If you can still read your email — do this now
Reset your password. Following the reset link ends every session on the account except the new one you're about to start. Whoever is signed in elsewhere loses access immediately. You don't need us for this, and it's faster than waiting for a reply. See How to Reset Your Password.
Then secure the mailbox itself — new password, two-factor authentication if it's available. An email account someone else can read undoes everything else.
Then check your money
Open Wallet and look through the transaction history for anything you don't recognise.
Check Subscriptions in your settings — subscriptions and monthly donations renew on their own, and funds are set aside shortly before each renewal.
If you see a withdrawal you didn't request, write to us straight away and say so — the sooner we hear, the more we can do.
Two things nobody can do to you
Change your email. It's fixed on Sociala, so your way back in can't be taken from you.
Redirect your payouts. Someone else's payout account can't be attached to your profile.
If you can't get into your email either
Then write to us at [email protected] from any address you can use. Tell us the email on the account, your username, roughly when you lost access and anything you noticed. We'll take it from there — and say in the message if there's money on the account, so we can look at that first.
