Meetings happen on Sociala — there's nothing to install and no third-party link to follow. You booked with a Sociala account, so your meetings are in your account and you get in the same way the expert does.
Getting in
Thirty minutes before, both of you get an email with a link straight to the meeting. You can also open it from your meetings. The Join button becomes active 10 minutes before the start; until then it shows a countdown.
Recording
Where recording is enabled, a meeting can be recorded — audio and/or video. A red dot and Recording in progress show the whole time it's on, and it can't be hidden. If recording is required for a call, that's disclosed before booking, and if you don't agree you may not be able to take part.
Everyone who is recorded gives their own explicit consent before their audio or video is recorded. Accepting our terms, booking a call or joining it isn't recording consent. Recording can start once the first person who has agreed joins, even alone; nobody else is recorded until they agree. If you decline or withdraw consent, recording of you stops.
The recording isn't available to either of you to watch or download. Recordings are generally kept for about three months, then deleted or de-identified, unless the law, a dispute, an investigation or backups require longer.
Recordings, transcripts and related materials may be used for disclosed purposes — running and securing the service, support, quality and resolving disputes — and, subject to applicable law and any required separate consent, for the development, training and improvement of Sociala's own AI models. Consent to record a call isn't consent to use it for AI model training: where separate consent is required, it's asked for separately, and declining doesn't stop you from taking part. Where AI features such as transcription, translation or summaries are enabled, they're disclosed to you.
To withdraw consent for AI training, use the available controls on the platform or write to us at [email protected].
What you can do in the meeting
Camera and microphone, with effects for your own video.
Screen sharing — available to both sides, not just the expert.
A chat for the meeting, with emoji, links and images. It's separate from your Sociala messages.
Settings — microphone and speaker with a sound test, camera and mirroring, and connection quality.
Full screen for either participant.
The expert can also mute everyone, themselves included.
Polls, raised hands, picture-in-picture and outside AI note-takers aren't available. Signing in on a second device disconnects the first.
Time
A countdown shows what's left of the time that was booked. Running over doesn't end the call — it ends when everyone leaves.
If it goes quiet for about a minute you'll be asked whether you're still there; no answer for another minute or so ends the meeting and takes you to the feedback screen.
The Sociala menu still works during a meeting, but leaving asks you to confirm.
Afterwards
Both of you get a short form: a rating out of five, how the connection was, a comment, and a box to mark that the other side didn't show up.
If the expert has donations switched on for the call, you'll also be offered the chance to leave a donation — entirely optional.
Feedback can't be changed once sent, and you don't have to fill it in — the button stays on past meetings if you'd rather do it later.
Ratings aren't shown publicly anywhere.
If something went wrong technically
Say so in the feedback form, under call quality. That flags the meeting for us to look at, and the money stays put until we have.
