A private channel is a free channel where the owner decides who gets in.
Finding one
Private channels don't appear in search or recommendations. The way in is a link from the owner.
Asking to join
Open the channel from the link and ask to join. Your request waits for the owner's approval, and the content opens once they accept it.
While you wait
Nothing in the channel is visible until you're accepted, and the channel won't show up in your recommendations while your request is pending.
Running a private channel
Choose Free — Private when you create the channel — the type can't be changed later. Requests wait for your approval. A private channel has no Show channel in my profile option: it isn't shown publicly at all. See Creating a Channel.
