Open your chats with the message icon in the top bar. The list has three tabs:
All — every conversation you have.
Unread — only the ones waiting for your reply.
Requests — messages from people you aren't connected with yet.
Who lands where
Messages go straight to your chats when you're connected with someone — that means you're friends, or you follow each other both ways.
Messages from anyone else arrive in Requests. Open one and you can reply, or use the three dots to Report, Block or Delete chat.
Paid messages
Writing to someone you aren't connected with can cost money — the creator decides. In Chat settings (the gear above your chat list) anyone can set a paid messaging request price, anywhere from $2 to $100, and the screen shows exactly what reaches them after fees.
So if a creator has set a price, reaching them means paying it. What happens if they never reply is covered by the Refund Policy.
Set your own price the same way, or leave it and let people write to you free.
